"We are united in the brotherhood of bonsai."

-Master Saburo kato

Originally started to honor Bonsai Master Saburo Kato's mission for peace through bonsai, World Bonsai Day is a cornerstone of the bonsai community. Bonsai is an opportunity to separate from the anxieties of the world – a chance for bonsai artists or admirers to collect their thoughts and find inner peace that they can then focus outward. We hope that during this time of war, violence and unrest in our human history, you have been able to use bonsai to find peace and share it with the world.

For the first time in two years the National Bonsai Foundation is able to celebrate World Bonsai Day in person. If you are in the Washington, DC area, we encourage you to check out our agenda for the day. For those that wish to celebrate virtually, we have curated the following activities and content for you below.

Please share this page with your friends and family around the globe as a gesture of peace and unity. Simply click on the icons below to be carried to that section of the page.
